Abstract: | O tema desta tese é o património cultural como recurso turístico, em concreto, o caso das levadas e veredas da ilha da Madeira. A problemática abordada insere-se no mapa de questões associadas às estratégias de activação patrimonial, às representações turísticas das levadas e aos discursos promocionais e, ainda, às experiências e motivações dos turistas.
A pesquisa foi elaborada no sentido de responder às questões enunciadas e ainda por forma a responder aos objectivos propostos, a saber: caracterizar e analisar o turismo na Madeira na perspectiva cultural; identificar sítios, lugares, paisagens e levadas como objectos de destino turístico; identificar e interpretar as representações turísticas e os discursos promocionais das levadas, traduzidos em textos, imagens e narrativas, captando deste modo as ideias que alimentam a mercantilização e consumo dos espaços turísticos; e por fim, caracterizar e examinar as motivações e interesses dos visitantes; ABSTRACT: The theme of this thesis is the cultural heritage as tourist resource, specifically, the case of the levadas and veredas of the island of Madeira. This is part of the issues associated with the heritage activation strategies, the tourist representations of the levadas and the promotional discourses, and, the experiences and motivations of tourists.
The research was developed in order to respond to the proposed objectives, namely: to characterize and analyze the tourism in Madeira in cultural perspective; identify sites, places, landscapes and levadas as the subject of tourist destination; identify and interpret the tourist representations and promotional discourses of the levadas, translated into texts, images and narratives, capturing the ideas that fuel the commercialization and consumption of tourist spaces; and finally, characterize and examine the motivations and interests of visitors. |
