Memórias de um património industrial esquecido, do centro histórico de Évora e arredores (1800-1970) inventário e projeto de valorização

Abstract

Évora não é só uma cidade com património artístico e religioso, como a Sé ou o Templo Romano. É também uma cidade em que se encontram ainda vestígios de um património industrial que poucos conhecem, uma vez que a maioria das atividades já não existe e os edifícios em que as mesmas se realizavam foram adaptados a outros usos. Este Estágio consistiu na recolha de informação sobre os edifícios industriais que existiram no centro histórico e arredores da cidade de Évora, entre 1800 – 1970, e que posteriormente foram adaptados a outros usos ou desapareceram, como forma de contribuir para uma melhor compreensão das várias atividades industriais que existiam na cidade. É necessário destacar que este tipo de inventário pode contribuir para reavivar a memória sobre a atividade industrial, preservando assim um legado deixado pelo passado e redescoberto no presente. Toda a informação recolhida foi devidamente inserida numa base de dados, criando-se fichas de inventário para o seu levantamento e para uma posterior consulta credível. Esta informação será futuramente colocada num site relacionado com o Património Industrial, inserido na página eletrónica da Câmara Municipal de Évora e com divulgação na página da Universidade de Évora, nomeadamente no projeto Património Industrial do Sul que se desenvolve no âmbito do CIDEHUS, permitindo assim, a sua difusão junto dos interessados por este património; Abstract: Évora, is not only a city of artistic and religious heritage, such as the Cathedral or the Roman Temple. It is also a city with industrial heritage that few know, since a good part, are activities that no longer exist and the buildings in which they were held were adapted to other uses. This stage consisted, as a way to contribute to a better understanding of the various industry activities that existed in the city, was based on the collection of information on industrial buildings that existed in the historical area of the city of Évora, between 1800 - 1970, and were later adapted to other uses or disappeared as a way to contribute to a better understanding of the various industry activities that existed in the city. It is necessary to highlight the need for this type of inventory that will serve for a revival of memories on industrial activity, thus preserving a legacy left by past and rediscovered in the present. The information collected has been properly inserted into a database, creating files inventory for their survey and a subsequent more credible query. This information will be available in a site related to Industrial Heritage, located on the electronic page of the Municipality of Évora and linked to the website of the project Industrial Heritage in the South developed within the CIDEHUS, a research center of the University of Évora, thus allowing its dissemination to the people interested in this heritage.
