Psicoeducação da família no contexto da doença mental

Abstract

O texto analisa o papel da Psicoeducação na saúde mental, destacando a sua importância para compreender a doença, gerir os sintomas e promover a autonomia das pessoas com doença mental. Destaca o impacto das perturbações mentais no indivíduo e na família, reforçando a necessidade de intervenções educativas estruturadas. A psicoeducação é apresentada em articulação com a Teoria do Autocuidado e o Processo de Enfermagem de Dorothea Orem, valorizando o papel dos enfermeiros na formação, fortalecendo as redes de apoio e melhorando a adesão terapêutica. São descritas modalidades de intervenção, recursos comunitários e desafios existentes no contexto português, incluindo barreiras culturais, organizacionais e de formação. O texto destaca também lacunas na investigação e a necessidade de maior investimento na formação e implementação de práticas psicoeducacionais. Concluiu-se que a Psicoeducação é essencial para um cuidado de saúde mental mais eficaz, humano e integrado; - ABSTRACT: Psychoeducation of the family in the context of mental illness The text analyses the role of Psychoeducation in mental health, highlighting its importance for understanding the disease, managing symptoms and promoting the autonomy of people with mental illness. It highlights the impact of mental disorders on the individual and the family, reinforcing the need for structured educational interventions. Psychoeducation is presented in articulation with Dorothea Orem's Self-Care Theory and the Nursing Process, valuing the role of nurses in training, strengthening support networks and improving therapeutic adherence. Intervention modalities, community resources and challenges existing in the portuguese context are described, including cultural, organizational and training barriers. The text also highlights research gaps and the need for greater investment in training and implementation of psychoeducational practices. It is concluded that Psychoeducation is essential for more effective, humane and integrated mental health care.
