Valorização das Salinas Neves Pires: os banhos salinos como hipotese de transformação

Abstract

A presente dissertação tem como objetivo revisitar a proposta arquitetónica desenvolvida na unidade curricular de Projeto Avançado II, fundamentando as opções de projeto de reabilitação do antigo armazém das salinas, com consciencialização da importância de desenvolver atividades sustentáveis e complementares com a preservação do sistema lagunar e do reconhecimento e valorização das ações terapêuticas da água do mar. Esta proposta apresenta uma solução para um problema comum em grande parte das cidades. Com o decorrer dos tempos, há edifícios que perderam a sua utilidade e que permanecem abandonados à espera que uma nova ocupação. Faro sempre foi uma cidade ligada ao mar, mas essa ligação não é apenas geográfica, é também humana. Para muitos, o mar foi, e ainda é, direta ou indiretamente, a principal fonte de rendimento. Não obstante, a realidade mudou: hoje, com a mesma situação de estreita proximidade com o oceano, mas agora, com um crescimento constante do turismo, que vêm fascinados pela gastronomia e cultura, mas também pelo que o mar pode oferecer, tanto em termos de lazer, como para fins terapêuticos. Com base nestes argumentos, e a situação privilegiada em relação aos recursos naturais necessários, bem como a não existência de qualquer equipamento desta natureza em Faro, foi justificável utilizar o antigo armazém, sem uso, com um programa de banhos salinos (Talassoterapia), promovendo novas experiências beneficiando da evolução da vertente turística de saúde e bem-estar, fortalecendo o lugar estruturante das salinas e a sua relação com o território envolvente; - Valuation of Salinas Neves Pires: Saline baths as a hypothesis for transformation - The main objective of this dissertation is to revisit the architectural proposal developed in the Advanced Project II curricular unit, supporting the design options for the rehabilitation of the old salt flats warehouse, with awareness of the importance of developing sustainable and complementary activities with the preservation of the system. lagoon and the recognition and appreciation of the therapeutic actions of seawater. However, the reality has changed: today, with the same situation of close proximity to the ocean, but now, with a constant growth in tourism, we are fascinated by gastronomy and culture, but also by what the sea can offer, both in terms of leisure, as well as for therapeutic purposes. Based on these arguments, and the privileged situation in relation to the necessary natural resources, as well as the non-existence of any equipment of this genesis in Faro, it was justifiable to use the old, unused warehouse, with a saline bath program (thalassotherapy), promoting new experiences benefiting from the evolution of the health and well-being tourism aspect, strengthening the structuring place of the salt flats and their relationship with the surrounding territory.
