This report follows the curricular internship of the Integrated Master's Degree in Veterinary Medicine, which took place at the CuraeVet Estremoz and Vila Viçosa clinics between September 19th, 2022 and February 5th, 2023.
The first part of this report concisely describes the activities carried out and the caseload monitored during the internship period. The second part of the report consists of a literary review on the subject of "Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca", supported by the retrospective study of twenty five clinical cases, where the vast majority of affected animals displayed clinical improvement.
Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca is one of the most common and frequently diagnosed ocular disorders in dogs. It is characterized by an inflammatory condition of the ocular surface and is caused by a deficiency of one or more components of the tear film, culminating in dry eye, inflammation of the conjunctiva and cornea, ocular pain, progressive corneal disease and, consequently, impaired vision. |
