graduates in Sao Tome and Principe - ABSTRACT:
One of the main inputs of Higher Education Institutions, to the places where they
located, stems from the way in which graduated are integrated into the labor market and
thus contribute to the creation of wealth and development. This study aims to
characterize the professional paths of higher education graduated in São Tomé and
Príncipe and to identify and understand the factors that influence and characterize them.
Studying employability implies investigating the individual and family factors that
influence it, as well as the reasons for the choices, from the training path, through the
professional insertion path and the options and opportunities found after the end of the
course. The set of pre-existing knowledge and skills acquired during the training in
higher education are critical (fundamental). In addition to these characteristics liaised to
the individual and his context, it is necessary to know the demands and preferences of
the labor markets. This study uses methodologies of a quantitative nature, based in
questionnaire surveys. In general, it appears that more successful career paths tend to
correlate with more job-search attitudes. |
