Re (interpretação) do polo da Mitra. Um novo olhar sobre a luz. Ensaio arquitetónico sobre o conjunto de Vítor Figueiredo

Abstract

O objeto de estudo é o polo da Mitra, da Universidade de Évora, em Portugal, no qual a luz foi pensada de forma particularmente defensiva, com um acentuado carácter de proteção, em que a narrativa é toda uma envolvente pautada por um ritmo muito lento e característico, elementos matriciais desta região. A intervenção proposta pressupõe uma perspetiva diacrónica de continuidade, a partir da construção do edificado de Vítor Figueiredo, ou seja na “diacronia para o passado” proponho o estudo de vários autores desde a antiguidade até ao presente, tanto sobre o “lugar” da luz na História da arquitetura, bem como a História da própria Universidade passível de influenciar uma possível intervenção. Também se apresenta, em oposição clara à luz meridional que impacta o local da Mitra, a luz no Oriente, que, tal como nos relata Junichiro Tanizaki, é de máxima importância para perceber como é importante um equilíbrio na escala de luminosidade para atingir um conforto e uma arquitetura que dialoguem com o Homem, afastando-se a disfuncionalidade do incumprimento da escala Humana, ou, pelo menos, da sua medida e do seu propósito. Antecedendo a experiência projetual visada, foi considerada adequada uma organização por tópicos sobre os casos de estudo e sobre o que é possível fazer com a luz para transfigurar o espaço e o transformar, naquilo que pretende ser o escopo nuclear de toda a tese, o de re-estruturar o Polo da Mitra/ conjunto de Vítor Figueiredo e o de olhar para o edificado e perceber quais as suas possíveis vantagens e desvantagens lumíneas e o que se pode alterar para que chegue a ser um símbolo, respeitando a continuidade que o projeto do arquiteto Vítor Figueiredo propôs, nos seus traços essenciais. A luz no Alentejo e as necessidades construtivas que a mesma provoca para assegurar o conforto humano têm vindo a evoluir ao longo dos tempos e novos materiais surgem, bem como novas técnicas, cujo uso se torna obrigatório num bom projeto de arquitetura. Nesta investigação, pretende-se que sejam aprofundados os diferentes usos da luz nas regiões setentrionais e meridionais, comparando-os, com o objetivo de, mais tarde, perceber as patologias de um caso de estudo próximo, que não resistiu ao tempo, como é o caso do conjunto de Vítor Figueiredo, na Mitra, em Évora, que surge num contexto em que a Universidade de Évora necessitava de um lugar físico para se estabelecer, sendo a Herdade da Mitra pertença do Estado Português; ABSTRACT: RE (INTERPRETATION) OF MITRA’S POLE. A CONTINUITY UNDER A SOUTHERN LIGHT - The goal is to study Mitra’s Pole, from the University of Évora, in Portugal, in which the light was thought in a particular defensive way, with a character of protection in which the narrative is an envelope lined by a very slow and caracteristic rhythm, all matricial elements of this region. To fundament this intervention with solid arguments I will be studying several authors since the antiquity until today, who talk about the “place” of light in the architectural history, as well as the history of the university wich can deliberately influence a possible intervention. Another point to have in consideration is the light in the East, which, as reported by Junichiro Tanizaki in priase of darkness, is of extreme importance to understand how balance is important in the lightness scale to achieve a confort and an architecture that dialogues with the man, moving away the disfunction of the unfitted human scale, or at least, it’s measure and it’s purpose. Finishing , the domain of the constructive detail is of extreme importance, since it is basically the main tool used by the architects to make architecture in a better way, gathering the essencial equipment to finish something that is an expression (reallity close and own, with feelings). In order to do this, it is necessary to ensure an assiduous presence in situ, which allows an organization of the elements which need to be compared and the ones wich need to be changed, as a proper fundamentation. Preceding the projectual experience, it’s important to materialize an organization with topics, about the case studies and about what is possible to do with the light to transfigure the space in what needs to be the scope to the entire dissertation, the rebuilding and restructure the Mitra’s Pole and the look to the building and understanding which are the possible advantages and disadvantages of the light and what can be changed to be a symbol. The light is the key reagrdless if it is a residence, a restaurant, or a program that becomes the reference to whoever visits the space, with the objective of occupying the visitant memory. The light in Alentejo and the constructive needs, that the same light causes to ensure the human confort, have been evolving through time and new materials emerge, as new techniques, which have become mandatory in a good architectural project. In this investigation, it is intended to deepen the light and it’s different uses, in the setentrional regions and meridional, comparing both with the objective of, later, understanding the pathologies of a case study close to me, that didn’t resist the time, like Mitra’s Pole in Évora, that arises e a context where the university of Évora needed a fisical place to establish, being the Herdade da Mitra, a belonging of the Portuguese nation.
