Abstract: In this work, simulations of the global irradiance fields are presented for shortwave radiation, obtained with one-dimensional (1D) and three-dimensional (3D) numerical radiative transfer models, considering warm clouds with different microphysical / optical properties. These simulations were inter-compared to display the differences between the two radiative transfer models, considering the same atmospheric conditions, when using a 1D or 3D radiative transfer calculations. These calculations are also combined with an analytical radiative transfer model under development for cloudy atmospheres, to subsequently retrieve cloud related quantities, which is foreseen to be achieved in near future work. The analytical model is briefly presented as well.
