Cogito antropagógico e formação humana no pensamento de Manuel Ferreira Patrício (1938)

Abstract

Manuel Ferreira Patricio was born in Montargil in 1938, and he teached at all levels of schooling (primary schools, high schools and university. He ended his career as rector of the University of Évora. You can describe his intellectual work of a lifetime as the attempt to define the human beneath and above concrete human beings. But, overall, to plan and realize the formation of these humans towards the fullness of their humanity. A question remains: this process of human education, where is it generated, where is it oriented and how is it energized? It is in what our author calls the anthropagogic cogito, which he defines as the primordial gaze of each one at himself. In this gaze, the subject recognizes the distance that goes from the existing being, from the one who is being, to the being he longs to be. Education, the concrete and substantive process of human formation, is then to build the bridge between these two levels of being.
