As universidades privadas,
quantitativa, com base no questionário, na análise documental e da legislação; ABSTRACT: Early 2014, higher education in S. Tomé and Príncipe has undergone substantial
changes, with the expansion of the university network. The first public university -
USTP – had been created and was formed by three university branches: the Faculty of
Sciences and Technologies, the Higher Institute of Education and Communication and
the Higher Institute of Health Sciences.
Until then, private universities - IUCAI and Lusíada - had the monopoly of higher
education landscape. And as a result of this expansion, several constraints have arisen,
and are not only related to the quantity of university poles but also to the quality of the
trainees. The profile of the university professor became part of the demand for
improvement that is intended for the process of social transformation in S. Tomé and
Príncipe.
This paper intends to analyze the profile of university professors in S. Tomé and
Príncipe, based on their conceptions and practices, the perspectives and challenges of
today's higher education. For this purpose, a quantitative approach will be used, based
on the questionnaire, documentary analysis and legislation |
