Paracatu e Santana dos Alegres no relato de viagem do Johann Pohl em fins do período colonial.

Abstract

Resumo: O objetivo do presente artigo é perceber como a região de Paracatu do Príncipe foi descrita nos relatos de Johann Emanuel Pohl e como suas impressões e “modo de ver” perpassam sua narrativa. Em sua viagem pelo interior do Brasil, entre 1817 e 1821, ele percorreu as capitanias do Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais e Goiás. Seus relatos foram publicados na década de 1830 e constituem-se em importantes representações sobre a região por ele visitada no período que imediatamente antecedeu a Independência do Brasil, levando em consideração a forma como estruturou a narrativa, apresentou lugares, tradições, aspectos naturais e sociais por ele vislumbrados. Metodologicamente, este estudo procurou identificar em uma análise qualitativa as narrativas contidas na obra “Viagem no interior do Brasil” que abordaram especificamente a viagem de realizada de São João Del Rei a Paracatu do Príncipe, vila do período colonial que surgiu sob os auspícios da mineração e exerceu influência em toda região. Foram analisados também parte dos relatos acerca de Santana do Alegre, localizada no território de Paracatu do Príncipe, mas distante algumas léguas da sede da Vila, tendo Johann Emanuel Pohl passado por esta localidade em seu percurso de Goiás até a Real Mina de Galena do Abaeté, em 1818.// Abstract: The purpose of this article is to understand how the Prince Paracatu region was described in Johann Emanuel Pohl 's accounts and how his impressions and "way of seeing" permeate his narrative. During his trip through the interior of Brazil, between 1817 and 1821, he traveled through the captaincies of Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and Goiás. His reports were published in the 1830s and constitute important representations of the region he visited during the period which immediately preceded the Independence of Brazil, taking into account the way in which the narrative was structured, presented places, traditions, natural and social aspects that it envisioned. Methodologically, this study sought to identify, in a qualitative analysis, the narratives contained in the work "Journey in the interior of Brazil", which specifically addressed the trip from São João Del Rei to Paracatu do Príncipe, a colonial village that emerged under the auspices of mining and exerted influence throughout the region. Some of the reports about Santana do Alegre, located in the territory of Paracatu do Príncipe, but a few leagues from the Vila's headquarters, were also analyzed, with Johann Emanuel Pohl passing through this locality on his way from Goiás to the Real Mina de Galena do Abaeté, in 1818.
