Abstract: | Past depressive experiences may relate to current suicidal ideation even when individuals do not present current depressive symptoms. Here we report data of a 457 non clinical sample to whom we administered the Portuguese version of the Depressive Experience subscale of the Manic-Depressiveness Scale to assess past symptoms of depression and the Portuguese version of the Beck Depression Inventory to assess current depressive symptoms. According to the results, past depressive experiences relate to current suicidal ideation, even when controlling for current depressive symptoms and suggest that even when individuals do not present significant current depressive symptoms, they may still be at risk for experiencing suicidal ideation. |
