Expetativas de alunos relativamente à escola: um estudo, com alunos do 4º, 6º e 9º anos de escolaridade, numa escola rural do distrito de Faro

Abstract

A presente dissertação estuda as expetativas dos alunos acerca da Escola, procurando-se identificar como representam os alunos a escola, a perceção que estes têm de si enquanto alunos e as suas expetativas acerca do próprio futuro. Procura-se, ainda, perceber se existe evolução nas expetativas dos discentes nos diversos níveis de escolaridade. O estudo incidirá sobre alunos em anos terminais de ciclo – 4º, 6º e 9º anos de escolaridade – de uma escola rural do distrito de Faro. Os sujeitos selecionados corresponderam à totalidade dos discentes do 4º, 6º e 9º ano de escolaridade, num total de quarenta e um indivíduos. A investigação basear-se-á num paradigma metodológico misto - quantitativo e qualitativo -, sendo a recolha de dados realizada, numa primeira fase, através de inquéritos por questionário, apresentando a vantagem de maior rapidez na recolha de informação e, numa segunda fase, por entrevista, de forma a especificar e aprofundar os dados recolhidos. Não obstante o investimento em recursos humanos e dos recursos materiais feito pela organização escolar, os resultados obtidos têm ficado aquém do esperado, cabendo ao aluno um papel central neste processo, facto relegado para plano secundário ou mesmo negligenciado, pelo que este estudo se centra nesta variável: a aluno. O estudo confirma a importância que os alunos atribuem à Escola enquanto espaço social de interação com pares e demais comunidade escolar, reconhecendo igualmente a importância das aprendizagens, socialmente valorizadas em prol de um futuro profissionalmente promissor, atribuindo a si mesmos a responsabilidade pelo percurso escolar trilhado; STUDENTS EXPECTATIONS REGARDING SCHOOL - A STUDY OF STUDENTS IN THE 4TH, 6TH AND THE 9TH YEARS OF EDUCATION IN A RURAL SCHOOL, FARO DISTRICT ABSTRACT: This dissertation aims to study the expectations of students about the school, for identify what the school represents to them, the perception they have of themselves as learners and their expectations about the future itself. We tried, also understanding if there are evolution in their expectations in the different levels of education. The study was focus on students in the 4th, 6th, and 9th classes – in a rural school of Faro district. The selected subjects corresponded to all the students of these terminal years, in a total of forty-one. The research will be based on a mixed methodological paradigm - quantitative and qualitative - and the data collection, initially was through questionnaire surveys, with the advantage of be faster in information gathering and in second phase, by interview, in order to complete and deepen the collected data. Despite the investment in human resources and material resources made by the school organization, the results were less than the expected, because it puts the students with a central role in this process, and this wasn’t our goal. The study confirms the importance that students attach to the school as a social space for interaction with peers and other school community, also recognizing the importance of learning, socially valued towards a professionally promising future, assigning themselves responsibility for their school path
