; ### Abstract
The current prices of maize and crop inputs in world market are 3 to 5 times higher than last 30 years average. Conservation agriculture (CA) is a system that can reduce costs, increase and diversify incomes, reducing risks and giving priority to soil, water and environment conservation.
The tillage systems trial carried out showed that maize yields both total dry matter and grain were not significant different between conventional tillage and no-till. Available water content in soil was bigger under no-till. Soil bulk density was higher in no-till at 10cm but no differences were found between tillage systems at 20 and 40cm. No-till was the most efficient system on diesel and labor consumption.
The cropping system that is in place at the farm where trial took place seems to show that CA allows a level of outputs significant higher than other systems considering level of inputs used. |
