Abstract: | Foi efetuada a monitorização do teor em compostos orgânicos voláteis (COVs), NO2, O3,
The contents in volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and inorganic pollutants, NO2, O3, NH3
and H2S, were measured inside the rooms and jewellery showcases the National Museum
of Ancient Art (NMAA). The levels measured showed that air quality of the rooms and
open showcases is strongly influenced by the influx of outside air. The pollutants
concentrations are similar to those measured in other European museums, although
within the highest range. The quality of the air-tight glass showcase analyzed is completely
different, with higher values in VOCs, and inorganic pollutant concentrations below the
limit of quantification.
The analysis of the silver corrosion layer proved that it is mainly composed of silver
chloride (AgCl). We were unable to establish a direct relationship between the nature of
the corrosion layer and the pollutants monitored, since the AgCl is likely due to the
presence of marine aerosols inside the NMAA. |
