Paisagens do ser. A representação da mulher nas obras de Paulina Chiziane

Abstract

O presente trabalho enquadra-se no âmbito da linha de investigação Paisagens do Ser, do Centro de Estudos em Letras (CEL-UÉ), coordenada pela Prof. Doutora Ana Clara Birrento e tem por objetivo analisar as formas como a mulher é representada em algumas obras de Paulina Chiziane. Esta análise proporcionou um olhar crítico sobre os diferentes contextos de experiência construídos na ficção de Chiziane, nos quais a mulher assume papel de relevo, averiguando um conjunto de temas e subtemas. Questões de emancipação, educação, ciclo social, rejeição da poligamia, a divisão sexual dos trabalhos, a prostituição, a diferença da mulher no norte e a mulher do sul de Moçambique, a submissão; o contexto cultural— o casamento tradicional, o levirato, a cerimónia da chuva, a feitiçaria, modos de se desculpar, a receção dos visitantes; fatores de identidade como o cabelo crespo; questões linguísticas como a recorrência às línguas africanas e ao português; as artes como a música; o sexo como arma de dominação feminina; o posicionamento da mulher na era colonial e o perfil comportamental das mulheres. Paulina Chiziane pinta nas suas obras um novo quadro da imagem da mulher na literatura moçambicana por meio do qual denuncia a imagem marginalizada de mulher objeto e dos papéis tradicionais de mulher dona de casa, dependente e dominada da lente masculina transformando-a em sujeito da sua cultura e sociedade, independentes, dominadoras e cultas; - Abstract: The present work is part of the research line Landscapes of Being, of the Center for Studies in Letters (CEL-UÉ), coordinated by Prof. Ana Clara Birrento and aims to analyze the ways in which women are represented in some works by Paulina Chiziane. This analysis provided a critical look at the different contexts of experience constructed in Chiziane's fiction, in which women assume an important role, investigating a set of themes and sub-themes. Issues of emancipation, education, the social cycle, rejection of polygamy, the sexual division of labor, prostitution, the difference between women in the north and women in the south of Mozambique, submission; the cultural context - traditional marriage, the levirate, the rain ceremony, witchcraft, ways of apologizing, welcoming visitors; identity factors such as curly hair; linguistic issues such as the use of African languages and Portuguese; the arts like music; sex as a weapon of female domination; the positioning of women in the colonial era and the behavioral profile of women. Paulina Chiziane paints in her works a new picture of the image of women in Mozambican literature through which she denounces the marginalized image of the object woman and the traditional roles of a housewife, dependent and dominated by the male lens, transforming her into the subject of her culture and society, independent, dominant and cultured.
