Abstract:
As part of the Integrated Master's Degree in Veterinary Medicine, in the 11th semester, a curricular internship in a practical context is planned, from which this report arises, which shows the activities carried out at the Hospital Veterinário Central - Cão de Ló, from 23 August 2021 to 31 January 2022. The first part analyses the casuistry and the second part reviews the literature on Feline Panleukopenia.
Panleukopenia is a highly contagious disease with a high mortality rate, distributed worldwide, caused by the type 1 carnivore protoparvovirus, with feline parvovirus (FPV) being the most common. Young and unvaccinated cats are more susceptible to the disease, where lethargy, anorexia, vomiting and diarrhea are the most common clinical signs. Treatment is symptomatic and vaccination is the method of choice for preventing the disease in the feline population |
