Abstract: Abstract: Introduction: Childhood Obesity is a public health problem worldwide. Low levels of physical activity, eating behaviors, as well as socioeconomic conditions are examples of contributing factors to this scourge. We understand that improving parents' knowledge about children's diet and the importance of physical activity will contribute to early prevention of obesity. Aim: To promote empowerment of parents/caregivers to improve healthy eating habits and physical activity in children aged between 3 and 6 years old and with a BMI ≥ p85. Method: A quantitative study was carried out, involving parents/caregivers of children with BMI ≥ p85, aged between 3 and 6 years, in a pediatric inpatient service of a national hospital. It took place over the period between March 1, 2021 and April 9, 2021, with a total sample of 11 participants. Results: Although the sample was small and we could not extrapolate the results, it was very clear that parents/caregivers had a high level of knowledge regarding healthy eating and children's physical activity habits, although the children had a BMI ≥ p85. Conclusion: The children's excess weight was justified by the parents/caregivers, with the period of confinement they were subjected to due to the pandemic. However, the intervention of the Specialist Nurse in Child and Pediatric Health showed gains in terms of knowledge of the participants
