Small animal medicine and surgery
The following report results of a four-month curricular internship at the Curae Vet Veterinary Clinic in Estremoz and Vila Viçosa in Portugal. It is part of the Master’s degree in Veterinary Medicine of the University of Évora, and it is divided into two parts.
In the first part, the clinical cases observed during the small animal’s internship are briefly addressed, including a short description of each clinical area (internal medicine, surgery and preventive medicine).
The second part includes a bibliographic review on “Corneal Ulcer”, supported by the author’s description of a clinical case. A corneal ulcer is an eye disease that causes an open wound on the cornea. It can have multiple aetiologies, including traumatic, viral, congenital, neurologic and anatomical, or even due to the evolution of other pathologies such as keratoconjunctivitis sicca. |
