XIX e do
in Tim Burton's Contemporary Gothic
The main purpose of this thesis is to demonstrate how a 19th century author
influenced a contemporary cinematographic narrative. To study the influence of Edgar
Allan Poe on Tim Burton, we will use an interdisciplinary approach method that
privileges the relationship between different arts, combining Literature and Cinema. We
will also select some historical contexts and artistic-literary concepts, such as the Gothic
and the Grotesque, which influence the work of an author from the 19th century and a
contemporary film director. In order to allow a complete understanding of the works to
be studied, this kind of approach is the most adequate to associate these aestheticliterary tendencies that originated these fictional and cinematographic productions. |
