Abstract: | The BRICS, as strategic partners, have been acting since 2008 as a group that aims, on the one hand, to change the architecture of international relations and, on the other hand, to rebalance the balance of powers in the name of soft balancing as an alternative and counterpoint to the world's largest power, the United States. To this end, the BRICS represent the group of countries with the highest global energy consumption in polluting agents for the environment such as natural gas, oil, coal, and are therefore designated as those responsible for emissions of Gases of the Greenhouse effect. It is intended to analyse if the BRICS have respected the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (1999), the Doha Amendments to the Kyoto Protocol and The Paris Agreement (2016). To that end, it is important to note the political and economic aspects that are now convergent and sometimes divergent to follow up on the climate change agenda, as well as strengthening the decisions of the different governments of each BRICS. It is worth noting the role of the New Development Bank, known as the BRICS Bank as the driving force behind clean energy financing and its contribution to sustainable development. |
