A promoção de uma educação literária na disciplina de inglês: um estudo no 4º ano de escolaridade

Abstract

A presente dissertação foi elaborada no âmbito do Mestrado em Ciências da Educação, mais concretamente, na área da Supervisão Pedagógica, tendo por finalidade a obtenção do grau de Mestre nesta mesma área. Este estudo foi desenvolvido numa escola de Primeiro Ciclo, na disciplina de Inglês, no quarto ano de escolaridade. O estudo realizado centrou-se na promoção de uma educação literária e da competência linguística dos alunos em língua Inglesa, tendo em conta a importância que a língua estrangeira representa como disciplina curricular no 3º e 4º anos do ensino básico. A literatura infantil, mesmo em Inglês, também pode ser um excelente instrumento de promoção da competência linguística, para além de incutir o gosto pela leitura. Neste sentido, elaborou-se um quadro teórico em que se procurou aprofundar conhecimentos ao nível da educação literária e o seu impacto na aula de uma língua estrangeira. A metodologia que utilizámos centrou-se na investigação sobre a própria prática, com recurso a distintas técnicas e instrumentos de recolha de dados que permitiram responder às questões levantadas pela investigadora. O projeto de leitura e a sua concretização procuraram promover experiências ricas ao nível da aprendizagem, motivando os alunos para o contacto com o livro, ainda que em língua inglesa. O trabalho comos alunos teve por base as Metas Curriculares para o Ensino da Língua Inglesa no 1º Ciclo. Os resultados que emergiram deste trabalho demonstram que é fundamental a educação literária no ensino de uma língua estrangeira, os alunos apreciam as histórias infantis e o seu contributo para a aprendizagem da língua inglesa foi notório; The promotion of literary education regarding English in Primary studies - a research on the 4th year of schooling. Abstract: As part of the Master's degree in Social Sciences, this essay is entitled "The promotion of literary education regarding English in Primary studies - a research on the 4th year of schooling." Thus, it was developed in a Primary school in Évora, during English lessons, on the 4th grade. This study was about the promotion of a literary education and a linguistic competence of students, regarding English lessons on the 4th grade. Since 2015, this subject has achieved substantial importance, because it became a curricular subject part of the 3rd and 4th grades. Childrens’s literature, in English, may be an excellent tool not only to promote linguistic competence, but also to increase the need and love for reading. In this sense, a theoretical framework was elaborated to bring some more knowledge about literary education and its impact with in the lesson of a foreign language. The methodology used led to techniques and instruments of data collection that allowed the answers to the questions raised by the researcher. The reading project ,and its implementation, aims to promote good learning experiences, motivate students to deal with the book, even though it is in English. The research with the students was based on the Curricular Teaching Goals for the English Language in primary schools. Thus, in the English language it is also possible to develop this taste for reading, even in childhood. The emerged results from this study show that literary education is very important when teaching a foreign language, students appreciate children's stories and their contribution to the learning of the English language was enormous.
