Os resultados indicaram que o efeito indireto influenciou o efeito total, sendo, pois, a AE um forte mediador entre as estratégias SOC e a SV; ABSTRACT: Does self-esteem (SE) have influence in the effect of the Selection, Optimization and Compensation strategies (SOC) over Life Satisfaction (LS)? The aim of this study was to understand if the indirect effect of SOC strategies over LS, mediated by SE, enhances the direct effect of SOC strategies over LS. This sample was composed by 406 non institutionalized independent elderly (age median = 73 years old), selected by non-probabilistic sampling methods and controlled for dementia and depression. Some tests were applied to the constructs: SOC-Questionnaire, Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale and Life Satisfaction Index-A. The constructs and the regression model were tested through structural models equations. The results showed that the indirect effect influenced the total effect, since the SE is a strong mediator between the SOC and LS strategies. |
