The use of specific immunotherapy has shown to be very useful for allergy control in veterinary medicine and it should be prescribed as directed as possible.
The identification of the molecular allergen repertoire of each individual will allow, in the future, the use of a specific molecular immunotherapy with a predictable increase in clinical efficacy. The aim of this work was to optimize the imunoblotting methods for mite (Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus) and grass pollens (Dactylis glomerata and Phleum pratense).
We selected and analyzed several dog´s sera from the region of Évora and Lugo, Spain, which presented seasonal symptoms related with sensitization and allergy to mite and grass pollens.
We observed several similarities between canine and human alergograms and a tendency to an increase in spectrotype complexity, even after successful immunotherapy, suggesting an absence of absolute correlation between sensitization and allergy. |
