Relatório de Clínica de animais de companhia: febre botonosa mediterrânea: apresentação de dois casos em canídeos

Abstract

O presente relatório de estágio foi realizado no âmbito do Mestrado Integrado em Medicina Veterinária de Évora e está dividida em duas partes fundamentais. Na primeira parte estão descritas as atividades médico-veterinárias desenvolvidas durante o estágio curricular no Hospital Animal do Sul entre os dias 14/01/2013 e 31/05/2013, que abrangeram a área de medicina interna e cirurgia de pequenos animais. Na segunda secção do relatório encontra-se a revisão bibliográfica da febre botonosa mediterrânea. É uma doença provocada pela bactéria Rickettsia conorii e é transmitida aos canídeos pelo ixodídeo Riphicephalus sanguineus através da sua picada. É uma doença de importância mundial além de ser de declaração obrigatória em Portugal, pois é uma zoonose estando descritos vários casos em humanos. A revisão bibliográfica é seguida do relato e discussão de dois casos clínicos de febre botonosa mediterrânea acompanhados durante o período de estágio; ### Abstract: “Small animal practice” - Mediterranean Spotted Fever in dogs The report of Master’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine, here presented, refers to the period between January and May 2013, during which was developed the practical component of the main curricular intership in Hospital Animal do Sul, located in Faro. It was possible to follow a diverse caseload in the Small Animal’s Medicine field, therefore in the first section are described medical-veterinary activities developed during the internship covering the area of internal medicine and surgery of small animals and from these I have chosen the theme "Mediterranean Spotted Fever”. In the second section of the report is a literature review of Mediterranean Spotted Fever. It is a disease caused by the Rickettsia conorii bacterium and transmitted by ticks like Riphicephalus sanguineus to dogs through the bite for food. Mediterranea Spotted Fever is an important global disease besides it is mandatory to notify it in Portugal, since it is a zoonosis and being described several cases in humans. The literature review is followed by the presentation and discussion of two clinical cases of Mediterranean Spotted Fever followed closely during the probationary period.
