This dissertation, Conversation between three customers, three houses and one place,
proposes a critical review and refl ection on the exercise developed in the PROJETO VI chair, in
the academic year of 2014/2015, entitled ‘Habitar Évora - three houses in three places in the
city‘. This exercise aimed to establish the relationship between the urban core and its interaction
with the architectural ensemble, in the context of the city of Évora. The statement proposes three
rooms in a place in the city, where they would be inhabited by three profi les of people, designed
through their professions and personal tastes in order to establish connections between them.
Thus, the investigation arises in an attempt to continue the exercise, but with a critical
refl ection on the role of hypothetical profi les becoming a reality, typical of architecture, as real
clients.
After understanding the importance of the client’s role in architecture, the exercise developed
academically is reformulated with the apprehensions of each real client.
This investigation explores refl ective thinking as a method that links an academic exercise
with a future professional exercise, comprising the architect, the client and the architectural project. |
