Abstract

A necessidade de construir uma explicação sociológica para as novas questões sociais acorrentadas à problemática da globalização parece-nos óbvia, de tal forma que os processos de transformação global da economia e da vida social se manifestam pelo aparecimento de novas formas sociais marcadas pelos efeitos de exclusão das políticas neo-liberais, pelo desencadear de novos conflitos sociais e, ainda, pela criação de entraves à consolidação da democracia. A exaustão do paradigma moderno, dominado pela razão instrumental confunde-se com o descrédito das formas tecnocrátas e elitistas de exercício do poder. O panorama mundial é marcado pela desordem dos valores, do pensamento instituído, no desmedido liberalismo económico e nos desequilíbrios sociais do globo. Novas formas da vida social ou das recentes configurações do social assaltam o imaginário global. Precisamos criar um mundo mais habitável.
