Title: La otra mirada ibérica: “La Eloísa portuguesa” de Emilia Pardo Bazán, Ana de Castro Osório y Alice Pestana Authors: Mochila, Miguel Filipe Editors: Martín-Estudillo, Luis; Antonio, Sáez Delgado Abstract: This chapter highlights the importance of a set of Iberian relationships, specifically Luso-Hispanic ones, led by Emilia Pardo Bazán (1851–1921), Ana de Castro Osório (1872–1935), and Alice Pestana (1860–1929), which took place in two Spanish periodicals, La España Moderna (1889–1914) and Revista de la Raza (1915–1935). From the modern peripheral peninsular situation, within an international geocultural framework, and in decisive articulation with another marginality that here becomes central, the female gaze, the text that Emilia Pardo Bazán dedicates to the Portuguese nun Mariana Alcoforado, “The Portuguese Héloïse,” the articles by Ana de Castro Osório commenting on the advantages of an “Iberian alliance,” and the novel Genoveva Montaña by Alice Pestana allow us, as a whole, to discover an Iberist female perspective that constitutes one of the most significant manifestations of the countercultural impetus of peninsular modernism, offering an especially incisive and critical view of the models and values of modern capitalist, cosmopolitan, urban, and bourgeois society.

Title: Using Web-based technology in ELF contexts Authors: Guerra, Luis Editors: Bayyurt, Yasemin; Illés, Éva Abstract: This chapter aims to provide a critical analysis of current classroom web-based technology through an ELF-aware paradigm. It takes into consideration how an ELF-aware approach may be implemented, adapted or constructed through different web-based tools, namely text-based, audio, video, multimodal production, digital storytelling, website creation, knowledge organisation and sharing, social networking and web-conferencing tools to enhance classroom learning in the use of blended, face-to-face, or online learning. The chapter also includes the case study of a project whose outcome is an online journal written and edited by undergraduate university students who are users of ELF. In sum, this chapter hopes to assist ELT teachers with pedagogical alternatives which rely on the use of innovative technological tools aiming at developing learners’ communicative skills for language use in ELF contexts inside and outside the classroom.
